It’s been five days of rain and it’s almost summer I can hear the spring wash away down the river to the bay As sure as the day comes that you’re leaving, you’ll return As sure as these days drag on the years will fly by when you’re home I don’t speak your name but I know the rhythm The pace of these days is unforgiving Just like the tide pulls on the water and lets it go My heart will rise and fall and bring you safely to the shore As sure as the day comes that you’re leaving you’ll return As sure as these days drag on the years will fly by when you’re home

The Enemy 04:49
you've got it bad, you don't hide it from the world you wear the stakes through your heart like precious gold you tar and feather and you feel justified you're the saint and they are demons in your eyes you can't forget you're living off the pain the hurt is oh so bad — it's your excuse but you can't stop the enemy cause the enemy is you your heart clenched like a fist, an eye for an eye you keep on fighting and there's always more to fight your cigarette's down to ashes, so here's to the burn of whiskey double down the hatch, then Judas has his turn you can't forget you're living off the pain the hurt is oh so bad — it's your excuse but you can't stop the enemy cause the enemy is you you've got it bad, no you don't hide it from the world a medal of honor hanging off every word you rage and you roar, but it don't satisfy when the bottle's empty and your fists hide your crying eyes you can't forget you're living off the pain the hurt is oh so bad — it's your excuse but you can't stop the enemy cause the enemy is you you can't forgive you're living off the pain the hurt is oh so bad — it's your excuse but you can't stop the enemy no you can’t stop no you can’t stop the enemy cause the enemy is you

Another Day 04:58
through this frost covered window I'm staring at the darkness waiting for the sun to slide up along the sky with my soul under cover of tattered expectations the only thing left counting on is that the night will move along and time will pass without you though I know I will never be the same cause your memory remains here in darkness with each coming of another day i've got so many questions cornered into silence i've never learned to speak out loud with a disappointed heart it just seemed so much easier to let go of you smiling than to reveal myself and to admit to all my pain cause time will pass without you though I know I will never be the same your memory remains here in darkness with each coming of another day each day's passing is a blessing to the wounded as long as you live you've got a chance to heal oh I wish I could see it getting light along the horizon the only thing left counting for is that the night will move along and time will pass without you though I know I will never be the same part of me remains here in darkness with each coming of another day

I don't want to leave tell me I can stay this time’s gone so fast soon I'll be on my way and I count all the reasons why I must go but part of me wishes to forget them all if I could be reckless, i'd tear my ticket in half i didn't know what I would find here things I had forgotten for a quarter century every morning when I awake to church bells ringing in another day feel so at home like a long, long time ago this time and this town a gift bittersweet the rain and the snow storms here don't seem to matter to me now that the lilac’s in bloom and swans glide two by two on the lakes it makes it twice as hard to say goodbye to you and your little mermaid
5.
Sunless Sky 02:55
here in this sunless sky there is no water line there's only you and I just for a moment I know how it feels to fly while holding on darling there's no goodbye in between day and night there's only you and I here in this sunless sky above the water line there's only you and I letting go
6.
Hurry Home 03:06
when I thought it was forever I started thinking things in two when I knew it wasn't happening I started writing this to you don't you think that it's a pity don't you think that it's a shame if you want to find forever you've got to muddle through this game now I'm standing here before you and all I want to do is breathe so while you're out there playing stranger don't forget the love you leave don't forget to take it with you take it everywhere you go if you want to find forever all you've got to be is home if you want to find forever baby you just hurry home

Words 03:45
watching grains of sand slip through my fingers while the wind has a way of its own like your words in conversation playing paper, scissor, and stone does survival come down to instinct does a seagull in flight target a goal like your words in conversation swooping high and catching low oh I try not to listen anymore but the ocean fails to obscure your syllables wash up to be heard constant waves of your words and does time erase everything it touches like the wind, my tracings in the sand like your words in conversation erasing who I am I try not to listen anymore but the ocean fails to obscure your syllables wash up to be heard constant waves of your words
8.
how do I claim what belongs to me like wind and sun and rain how do I take what's inside of me how do I make myself strong how do I turn every flaw that I see into a blossom of spring, and take to the sky like a bird flying free and know the way of the wind how do I toss out the lies that live among these broken dreams thoughts and beliefs that constantly shift stories that will never be how do I find what is true at the core what stands when I come undone and take to the sky like a bird flying free and feel the warmth of the sun and when I lie awake at night how do I reach out for you how do I tear down the walls that I’ve built and let myself not be alone when I see myself through your eyes your love, it makes me brave and I take to the sky like a bird flying free and never mind the rain

making a list for my lover hoping my car lasts through the summer the year was still new when we lost our fight spring finds us raging another i played for you like you wanted me to somebody play for me i took what i had and i crossed over hoping my car would get me through midnight and i arrived to no one spring was preparing us to lose i played for you like you wanted me to somebody play for me

(David Olney/Hard Ball Music) Oh, the women 'cross the river Carry water from the well at break of day They talk to one another God only knows what they might say You might get an education After years of dedication You might finally get a glimpse Of what is right and what is wrong But the women 'cross the river They knew that all along Oh, the women 'cross the river Work with tools that are ancient and handmade They plow their fields in perfect rows and then They rest beneath the shade Now we have learned to build Out of concrete out of steel And our buildings last a thousand years But then even they are bound to fall But the women 'cross the river Never learned to build a wall Oh, the women 'cross the river Are as gentle as the dew upon the ground How I love to hear them laughing in the rain When it makes that perfect sound Now a soldier with a gun and a battle to be won Might kill you with a bullet And you'd never even know the reasqon why But the women 'cross the river They can kill you with their eyes The women 'cross the river They can kill you with their eyes

about

Beggar's Ride, the self-titled debut album from the Baltimore based duo was tracked and mixed at the venerable Signature Sounds studio in Pomfret, CT. Working with producer David Goodrich (Chris Smither, Peter Mulvey, Jeffrey Foucault, Red Bird) and chief engineer Mark Thayer, they set out to record an intimate, moody album featuring the interplay between their tight harmonies and lush electric and acoustic guitar textures. The album features 10 songs, all originals by SanSoucie and Maguire with the exception of the brilliant David Olney tune “Women Across the River.”
